Before we could get to our actual vacation in Tahiti (from which, I assure you, there are tons of pictures), we had to get to Los Angeles International Airport. The drive down Highway 5 is one of my favorites, not least because it highlights everything I love about California—the bright, dry gold of the passing fields, the shiny green leaves of farms, and the electric blue sky that hovers above it all. We stopped just as we hit the Grapevine to take a stretch break and savor the scene before heading into LA traffic. Great views!
BONUS: No trip down South is complete without a stop at Pea Soup Andersen’s. A heartier meal you’ve never had!
